Creating a Collection
I have ADHD, granted it's undiagnosed but it is peer reviewed. My art feels like a way to channel my distractible mind into something productive. I could jump from one thing to another, get bored of one style and jump to the next, make a few paintings of one type then immediately make the opposite because that's where the brain goblins took me.
These days though I think I've found a style that feels like me, a theme that speaks with my voice and techniques that really work for me so I decided to focus my fractured attention span and attempt to do an actual collection. The series I've been doing of funerals for animals is one that I think I can take into something more, starting with 25-40 paintings with the same theme and style. I can even maybe make enough to be able to run my own solo show at some point in the future.
Where I'm likely to struggle here is the distraction, the vast amount of new ideas spilling into my brain at any moment, I'm up to 6 of these paintings and already thinking about my next project. It can wait, I can spend years on this one series if I need to and will have to hold the next things buzzing around my head at bay. Now, to get back to it.
