Loss and Motivation
It's been less than two weeks since we lost our beloved cat Layla. She was always next to me while I painted, tucked between me and the sofa arm supervising what was going on. She had been sick for a while, we had known for at least a couple of months that she was not long for this world, that didn't stop it feeling too soon. I think probably no matter how long they've been sick it always seems too soon.
Since losing her I've felt my motivation to paint just disappear. It's not art block, I know exactly what I want to paint, in fact I have a sketch just waiting to be painted. No it's that I just can't bring myself to pick up the paintbrush, it's like sadness has drained away all of the energy I put aside for painting.
Having ADHD means it's going to be a struggle to get back on track, but I will, I'm determined and honestly the little cat that used to supervise my painting would probably want that. Just bear with me for a little while, the space next to me is feeling pretty empty right now.
