Bridget J Art
I have always been drawn to the old, the dark and the esoteric. My art attempts to explore the juxtaposition between the grotesque and the beautiful.
Living with chronic illness has given me a fascination with bodies, inside and out, and the connection humans have with death. In an attempt to indulge this interest I aim to draw and paint the forgotten, the rotten and the beautiful as one.
My art features antiques, such as memento mori, gravestones and organs all against a backdrop of luxurious fabrics, nature and precious metals and gems. Bringing religious imagery and inspiration from the masters into paintings with things like roadkill, organs and bugs.
My aim is to normalise or even beautify the lost, the dead and the grotesque.
